
This is a delicious applesauce cake recipe made with raisins and cinnamon. We will first prepare the applesauce and then the cake. Please note that portions of applesauce mentioned here are not specifically for this recipe. So if the cake recipe requires more applesauce, you will need to make more.
1. Preparing The Applesauce
To prepare the applesauce, you will need the following ingredients,
Ingredients:
1. 48 ounces of apples, peeled and diced
2. 24 ounces of water.
3. 200 grams of white sugar.
4. 3 teaspoons os lemon juice.
Preparation:
1. Take a deep saucepan and add the applesauce into it. Add enough water into the saucepan such that it just barely covers the apples. Heat the saucepan on a low flame for about 20 minutes or till the apples soften.
2. Now blend the apples using a food processor and then add in the lemon juice and white sugar. Stir the mixture well and heat it over a medium flame for about five minutes.
The applesauce is now done.
Preparing The Cake:
To prepare the cake, you will need,
Ingredients:
1. 200g of sugar.
2. 2 teaspoons of baking soda.
3. 256 grams of all purpose flour.
4. A teaspoon of cloves.
5. One and a half cups of applesauce.
6. Six teaspoons of molasses.
7. A teaspoon of cinnamon, ground.
8. 150 grams of raisins.
9. Half a cup of shortening.
10. Half a teaspoon of salt.
Preparation:
1. First power on the oven and preheat it to about 350 degrees fahrenheit. Now take a fluted tube pan and grease the sides and base of the pan with butter and then flour it.
2. Take a dish or bow and mix together the ground cinnamon, all purpose flour, salt, baking soda and cloves. Sieve this mixture and leave it aside.
3. Now take another bowl and blend in the white sugar and shortening together until it becomes light and creamy. Pour in the apple sauce along with the molasses syrup into the bowl and mix it well.
4. Now add the flour mixture ino the bowl and whip it in. Finally fold in the raisins.
5. Pour this mixture into the tube pan and place it in the oven. Bake for about 50 minutes or till the cake is well baked. To check whether the cake is baked, insert a fork in the center of the cake and if it comes out clean, then it is ready. Let the cake cool down for about 5 to 7 minutes and then transfer it onto a wire rack for further cooling.
